Here at Vuly Trampolines, we love to stay active—even during the working day. Not only do workplace exercises help with your fitness and general wellbeing, they also allow your team members to let themselves go and joke around together. We’ve spoke before about how we perform a lot better when oxygen is pumping around our bodies, but it’s also great for our mental health if we share a laugh with our co-workers.

As the first in our ‘Behind Vuly’ series, where we look at the people and the magic that make up Vuly, we wanted to give you a look at the mini fitness challenges that our fantastic staff members often hold around lunch-time. Davyd, our Wholesale Representative, is always taking the lead to try and whip everyone into shape!

Vuly office exercises – Push-ups

Everyone knows how to do a push-up—whether they can is a different story! Push-up challenges probably bring out the most sense of competitiveness here at Vuly. You can judge the challenge based on endurance (longest time doing solid sets of push-ups) or speed (number of full push-ups in a given time). If some of your co-workers can’t do full push-ups, they can still participate by doing them on their knees—although they won’t be able to win.

On Monday this week, our National Finance Manager—Tessa—kept up with fitness challenge maestros Davyd and Ishan. We judged on endurance, and with a little encouragement from Davyd, I think that Tessa earned a proper win.

Vuly office exercises  – Commando

A Commando exercise involves assuming a push-up position, but then moving your elbows and forearms to the ground, and back up again, one at a time. Commandos are great endurance exercises, and we usually choose a winner based on how long participants can keep it up.

On Thursday this week (today), serial exercise champion Davyd went head-to-head with our Senior Account Manager—Matt—in a pure endurance contest that was all about holding up your body weight on your forearms and toes. As the only person dedicated to the full Commando exercise, Ishan won the day.

Vuly office exercises – Jumping burpees

A jumping burpee is a stand that leads to a squat that leads to a push-up that leads to a jump that leads to a squat again. It’s one of the more demanding office exercises that we do at Vuly, but it always seems to draw out participants—probably because it’s also one of the most fun. We ask for 5 full sets (ending in the jump); the winner is whoever can do it first.

On Tuesday this week, our Global Business Manager—James—thwarted a full house of competition in 11 seconds! Some of those jumps might have been a bit sloppy, though… We’ll have to work on them.

Does your office engage in fun mini exercise challenges too? Tell us about some of the exercises that you and your co-workers do.

If Vuly inspired you to get your fellow staff members in to shape, let us know!
