If you’ve recently been looking at purchasing a trampoline, there are a few key things to consider before going ahead with the purchase for you and your family. Now the first thing to think about when buying a trampoline for your family comes down to size. Now this one here is the 12 foot, or we at Vuly call a large. This is super important because you want to make sure there’s enough clearance around the backyard and above the trampoline when positioning it. Now choosing a trampoline with either springs or springless is another very important option to consider when purchasing a trampoline. Unlike traditional springs, the springless trampoline uses better technology which in most cases helps provide a better bounce and also reduce the risk of injury. But if you do find that a spring trampoline is right for you, make sure it has good quality padding, ones you can flip over to last you even longer. Now, another very important factor to consider when purchasing a trampoline is making sure it has a safety net. Not only does it have a safety net, but making sure those springs are on the outside of that safety net because your kids safety is number one. Make sure that net does last. You can even ask the manufacturer or supplier what material it’s made of and how UV resistant it is. Make sure to inquire or ask about the frame of the trampoline when you’re purchasing. A specific thing to watch out for is making sure it has a galvanized finish, other added features are also to have a black powder-coated finish and now these two things specifically help protect against rust and also increase the longevity of your trampoline. Now another important thing before purchasing your trampoline is to find out how much weight it can take. Australian Standards actually say that a trampoline should be tested for five times the static weight of whatever minimum weight rating you claim. This means a trampoline officially rated for 150 kilos can take up to 750 kilos of static load. You should make sure the trampoline you choose actually does pass the Australian safety standards and has been fully tested for the weight rating they claim. Australian Standards are not mandatory so always ask the manufacturer about them. Does your trampoline come with a fitted shade cover to help protect the kids from when they’re jumping? We all know how strongly UV is in Australia is so this is a very important factor to consider when purchasing a trampoline. Now make you ask the manufacturer about the warranties before purchasing. Every trampoline should come with at least a 5-year warranty and you should always be able to purchase replacement parts outside of this period. How easy is the assembly process? You don’t want to be struggling all afternoon in your backyard. Make sure you check for video guides, does the installation use nuts or bolts, or dies it use a push-button which we know is a much easier time for installation. Now on the fun side of things. You want to make sure you chose a trampoline which has a lot of accessories which you can attach to it seeing such as the basketball set or tent walls are going to give your kids heaps of use into the future and make sure that they’re going to get the most use out of their trampoline. Now by following this simple guide, you can’t go wrong with purchasing the perfect trampoline for you and your family. |
Trampolines are usually measured in feet. It’s super important that you consider the right size for your yard, as you will need clearance both around the trampoline and above as well.
Another significant factor is also the weight limit of the trampoline. At Vuly Play, we have four primary sizes spread across our different trampoline models.
Another important option is to consider buying either a coiled spring or a springless trampoline.
If you do opt for coil springs, make sure the trampoline has them covered with quality safety padding to reduce the chance of injury.
Also, keep in mind that springless trampolines like Vuly Thunder often produce a better bounce.
The frame is a crucial component of the trampoline.
Historically most trampoline frames have been rectangular, but many manufactures have shifted to using a circular design.
It’s easier to apply a safety net to a circular frame compared to rectangular trampolines.
Also, circular trampolines are naturally more stable due to their shape. Rectangular trampolines are more vulnerable to falling over, especially if a large amount of weight is placed at one end.
Making up the base of the trampoline, the quality of the frame is equally important. You'll want to invest in a heavy duty trampoline that will last.
Likewise, don’t forget to ask about the quality of the trampoline’s safety pad and net.
These are items you don’t want to replace regularly, so enquire if they’ve had real-world UV testing to withstand Australia’s often harsh climate.
Overall, you want to make sure you buy the safest trampoline possible.
Likewise, don’t forget about asking about the quality of the safety net and mat

Before buying your trampoline make certain you know how much weight it can take.
Australian Standards state that a trampoline should be tested for five times its static weight, based on the minimum weight rating the manufacturer claims.
For example, if a trampoline is officially rated with a weight limit of 150 Kgs, it should be able to take up to 750 Kgs of static weight load.
Also, double-check that the trampoline has passed Australian Safety Standards - AS 4989:2015.
This is important as it’s not a mandatory requirement for manufacturers.
Ask about the warranty period for different parts of the trampoline. A quality product should have at minimum, a 5-year warranty on the trampoline’s frame.
Knowing that you can easily and affordably buy spare parts is also something to check. Be wary of manufacturers who don’t list spare part prices online – they are likely going to be very expensive.
Easy assembly is also a bonus when buying a trampoline. Enquire if installation involves nuts and bolts and the use of tools such as a hammer or drill.
Some manufacturers make this process easier by using pushbuttons, allowing trampoline components and parts to click together without the need for tools.
Trampolines with diverse ranges of accessories ensure kids remain entertained, making your trampoline purchase a better long-term investment.
Check what you can add to your trampoline, as some brands will provide more choices over others, making it easy to play trampoline games.
Also, remember to ask about utility accessories such as wheels, allowing your trampoline to be moved easily (such as when you need to mow the grass).
We hope this guide has helped you when deciding between trampolines for sale.
